A small academy by choice, not by accident. Here is why we cap classes at six — and everything else worth knowing about us.
Four students, one table, a stubborn idea
Harbourline opened in 2017 in a narrow shophouse on Lebuh Gereja with exactly four students and one conviction: people learn to speak by speaking, and nobody speaks in a class of thirty. We kept the groups tiny even when the waiting list said we should not. The waiting list, as it turns out, was the point.
When our first online learners joined from Ipoh and Kuching in 2020, we made a second promise: the screen would never be a second-class seat. Online students get the same tutors, the same six-person cap and the same recorded lessons as everyone in the room.

Speak first
Grammar is taught in the moment it is needed, attached to something you were actually trying to say.
Correct kindly
Errors are information, not embarrassment. Tutors correct in ways that keep you talking, not shrinking.
Measure honestly
Placement checks, four-week milestone reviews and final certificates — you always know where you stand.
Record everything
Every group lesson is recorded for enrolled students, so travel, fever or a work deadline never costs you a week.
Coaches who chose teaching
Our team of nine tutors mixes native English speakers with Malaysian educators who scored their own way to the top — because a tutor who once sat where you sit explains things a textbook cannot. Every tutor holds a recognised teaching qualification (CELTA, TESOL or equivalent) and goes through our own coaching programme before leading a class alone.
- All tutors CELTA/TESOL qualified with a minimum of three years in the classroom.
